Garden, Weeds, and Procrastination

I know my blog is late this month, very late, and I apologize.

You might ask, "So, what have you been doing if you haven't been writing?"

This year, I decided I wanted a vegetable garden, I haven't had one for quite a few years. Of course, I decided too late to start the plants indoors, so I prepared some containers and tilled up a small spot in the yard. I planted seeds in the containers and the garden spot (it has big stuff like corn and squash), I didn't get the seeds into the ground until late May and early June so I'm kind of pushing it with them maturing. But I've been babying my seedlings and I'm hopeful.

I also discovered a weed that I have never seen before, it looks like a vine, but it doesn't climb. It just grows out over the ground. It also kills every plant in its path. There is a large area of it, so I have been pulling it out. I have a large pile but still have a lot to go. I'm hoping to finish that project today. When I'm done, I will have to plant something there so it doesn't fill up with weeds. Maybe a flower garden, maybe grass. I'm not sure right now.

Even though these projects need to be done, they are a form of procrastination. I need to rewrite all of the chapters I have finished so I can continue because I decided I didn't like where the story was going and changed enough that a lot of changes are needed. I was going to have to do rewrites anyway but the thought of all of the chapters before I was ready caused me to put it off. The thing is I want to finish the book and publish it. It was just easier to find other things that needed my attention.

It turns out, all I had to do was turn on my laptop and open the manuscript. I have finished Chapter 1 and am working on the rewrite for Chapter 2. It's slow going because I am reading everything and making any change that improves it, not just the changes I need to make. Less to do later. I hope I can keep the momentum going.

I hope you have a great day, week, month,

Tammy
